Eurofer said recently that the European steel demand will probably slide further in 2013 because of the bad performance of the industries which use the steel.

In the recently months, the European steel market remained quiet with continuously decreased price and frustrated market confidence.

The orders from downstream customers such as manufacturing and construction industries kept going down and most buyers were just purchasing as per the actual demand.

Eurofer estimated that the steel consumption in Europe would probably drop by 3% and 9% in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Although the weakening EURO may be helpful for the steel export, Europe still faces the fierce competition from Japan, South Korea, China and Middle East.

This year, the European steel export will probably increase by 4.5% and the steel import from the third countries will probably decrease by 26%.
